After a what appeared to be a somewhat slow start to the year in regard to cyber-attacks on our computers, phones or tablets, hackers are back at it.
The target this time is one that seems to be the most targeted company in the internet business. Microsoft is under attack and hackers are targeting the popular personal and business program Microsoft 365.
Should You be Worried Using This Program in Montana
The short answer is yes. Especially if you don't use the two-factor authentication feature within Microsoft 365. In a new report from Forbes and the security company SecurityScorecard, the attack concerns machines that are still using now deprecated basic authentication protections.

In research conducted by SecurityScorecard, it was found that "A botnet that comprises at least 130,000 devices that have been compromised by what is “likely a Chinese-affiliated group,” which has led to a "a large-scale password hacking campaign against Microsoft 365 accounts."

Montana Microsoft 365 Users Should Check Systems to Be Safe
While most systems being targeted are older systems that are still using deprecated software, Microsoft offers some advice on how to protect yourself as a consumer and as a business.
