New Pilot Program for Visitors of Glacier National Park

Even though the season is over for 2024, people are already looking forward to summer of 2025. Many of those will be tourists coming to Montana to see our beautiful state. Others will be local residents taking a trip with family or friends.

And most assuredly, those travels will include going to Glacier National Park. But hold on, there are a few changes for the next year, especially for those entering the park from the west entrance.

New Rules Introduced in Glacier National Park in Montana

In a new announcement this week, Glacier National Park announced that as with the past year, there will be a pilot vehicle reservation system in 2025, from June 13 to September 28, 2025, for the west side of Going-to-the-Sun Road and the North Fork.

For 2025, the park will be adding something new for visitors, piloting timed entry reservations for the west side of Going-to-the-Sun Road and the North Fork. This will allow visitors to enter the park according to the time block they have reserved and can remain in the park for as long as they like on the day of their reservation.

Glacier National Park Superintendent Dave Roemer stated that "Timed entry has proven to be a valuable tool in other popular national parks and should reduce congestion and wait times at the West Entrance to Going-to-the-Sun Road.”
