Glacier National Park Offers Tips for Travelers After Severe Rain

Mother Nature is continuing to throw curveballs with the weather across Montana, with winter-like conditions at the popular Beartooth Highway causing closures for tourists.  But on the other side of the state, rains have created just as much havoc for fans of the Going to the Sun Road.

The popular Glacier National Park in the state has experienced some incredible rains the past few days, causing closures, evacuations and more.  The Park staff are hopeful that things are getting back to normal, as one of the biggest weekends for the park approaches.

Rains at the park have ceased, and as the hope of sunshine and warmer temperatures comes, so do the questions for the Glacier Park staff.  The highest priority question is of course when the Going to the Sun Road will reopen to travelers.

Unfortunately, the Park isn't making "in ink" promises about when that might happen.  Safety is the first concern for workers and patrons at the park.  Beginning on July 1st, the park will be making assessment of the damages and repairs needed.

Certain Areas of Glacier National Park Could Become a Little More Congested

Since the popular roadway will be closed temporarily, officials with the park stated that other areas may become more congested.  They suggested to pack a lot of patience if the park is a must see now.
