Frequently Used Road to Remain Closed in Great Falls
Improvements Made, But Further Construction Happening in Great Falls
Great Falls isn't a particularly hard town to navigate around, though there are some congestion areas such as Park Drive to Central West. Most of us know the areas to avoid or use to make travelling easiest for us.
One of those often-used roadways in Great Falls happens to fall between the 9th and 15th Street bridges. Most of this past summer it has been closed for repairs to a storm drain. It has also affected the River's Edge Trail accessibility. One of those has been remedied, but one will continue to cause a slight inconvenience.
Good News for Walkers in the Electric City, Not So Much for Drivers

The trail has been closed recently to make temporary repairs to a storm drainage utility break that are now complete. Despite those repairs, there are still problems with the break that will require the North River Road to remain closed.

Drivers in Great Falls will still see the road closed sign for the North River Road between 9th and 15th. GF Park & Rec stated that "North River Road (along the North Shore of the Missouri River between the bridges at 9th St N and 15th St NE) will remain closed as the city, Montana Department of Transportation, and Cascade County continue their partnership to find long-term solutions for the utility break."

The other bad part about this closure? It doesn't appear that there is any sort of timeline to reopen this street in Great Falls. But they do state that "further updates will be provided as this situation evolves." To find out more information about this project, contact Cascade County Public Works at 406-454-6920. The City’s Park & Recreation Department can be contacted for questions about the trail at 406-771-1265.
