You Need to Check Your Chevy Pickup Tailgate Montana
If you own a pickup truck, more than likely you have it to haul something in the bed behind the cab of the truck. And to keep those items within that bed, you probably use the tailgate.
Unfortunately, just like a scene out of a famous Hollywood movie, (Final Destination anyone?) Chevrolet pickups are getting a recall for having tailgates that aren't latching properly.
Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Model Being Recalled in Montana and More
The effected vehicle involves certain 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra HD 2500, 3500 vehicles equipped with power-unlatching tailgates according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

In the recall, NHTSA issued the following warning regarding the problem:
The tailgate's electronic gate-release switch may short circuit due to water intrusion, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently unlatching while the vehicle is in Park.
As An Owner in Montana, What Should I Do to Be Safe?
As of this reporting, there haven't been any cases of accidents. However, owners of the effected vehicles should check the tailgate to ensure that it is latched before driving. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 13, 2025.

Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N242469160. GM stated that dealers will replace the exterior touchpad switch assemblies, free of charge. You can view the full recall here.
