Harley Davidson Motorcycles Recalled - Is Your Montana Ride One?

The new recall, announced through the NHTSA website, involves the possibility of pressure buildup in the crankcase.  The problem is "due to a supplier manufacturing issue, the breather port may contain plastic material blocking the passageway."

The report states that "if the dipstick is removed while the crankcase is pressurized, and the pressure is not slowly released before removing the dipstick, oil may be discharged from the fill spout, creating a risk of injury."

The following descriptions are what to look for on your motorcycle:

  • motorcycle may exhibit smoking from the exhaust system, excessive oil consumption, a detached breather hose, and/or an audible release of pressure when removing the dipstick
