Parents Sound Alarm for This Popular Toy Available in Montana

While there have been several iterations of it over 61 years, one thing about this toy is lasting power.  Still one of the most popular toys for children, the Easy Bake Oven has been giving us questionable little brownies cooked by light since 1963.

With only one instance of a recall in those years, the oven is now facing a new challenge of sorts from a Boston family that claims the toy sent their family to the hospital because of poisoning.

Recalls Are Rare for This Toy in General

If you have had any experience with this toy, there are some inherent "problems" that may occur.  But kids being kids, we probably all touched the little light on some of the earlier models.  Or put fingers where they shouldn't have been in the first place.

Recalls were issued in 2007 twice for the Easy Bake Oven.  But not for poisoning, in these cases it was children getting fingers caught in the oven door or receiving 2nd and 3rd degree burns from the element.  Recalls were issued and replacement parts were offered to customers.

Will This New Incident Be the Catalyst for a New Recall?

In a report from Delish, a Boston family of 3 were recently allegedly poisoned by using the oven.  Stephanie Murphy, her husband and daughter all experienced carbon monoxide poisoning, with the daughter needing medical attention.  Each of them experienced difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, chills and even nausea.

Other parents have also sounded an alarm over dangers posed by the ovens.  Hasbro has said that:

Hasbro takes all product safety concerns seriously.  Hasbro's Easy Bake Ovens meet or exceed all applicable safety standards.
