One of the main types of income that we all look to earning is that of the one we have been paying into for years and years.  But what happens when it becomes taxed?  How much will you have left?

Social Security For Income - What Is It?

According to Wikipedia, the Social Security Administration:

is an independent agency of the U.S. federal government that administers Social Security, a social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability and survivor benefits. To qualify for most of these benefits, most workers pay Social Security taxes on their earnings; the claimant's benefits are based on the wage earner's contributions.

Once you retire officially, those benefits kick in.  But in Montana, there is a little bit of a catch to those benefits.  Taxes.

Consider The Taxes When Starting to Consider a Retirement

Depending on where you live outside of Montana, before considering a retirement move to Big Sky country, you should consider that the state is one of 11 in the US that still do tax your social security benefits.

However, Montana is also one of the lowest tax rate states that do so.  There are also deductions available for lower income retirees.  The tax rate is also dependent on the adjusted gross income and the filing status of the retiree.
