Great Falls Mayor Weighs in on Possible Data Center
The discussions revolving around the possibility of Great Falls becoming home to a data center are pretty contentious to say the least. Both sides of the argument for or against have been well stated in recent months regarding the centers.
And of course, no final decision as to where or when those centers may become a reality, Great Falls Mayor Cory Reeves recently took to social media to express his thoughts and weigh in on whether this is a good or bad thing for our city.

Great Falls Mayor Weighs in on Possible Data Center
In his post, Mayor Reeves stated that one of the most frequent questions of late is that of the possible data center and his feelings towards one in or closely associated with the city of Great Falls. In short, that answer is no.

But in making that statement, Reeves also makes a great case as to why he feels that at this time, it isn't the right fit for the Electric City. For one, finding reliable, true stats about data centers is fleeting at best. Conflicting information must be disseminated in order to offer the public the best opinion and opportunity.
Regulation of Data Centers a Big Problem for Our Mayor at This Time
One of the best points made within Mayor Reeves social media post is one I have to agree with, stating that:
What I’d really like to see is more oversight at the state and federal level, along with a reliable, unbiased source that clearly lays out the pros and cons so communities like ours can make informed decisions.
Pretty common-sense approach if you ask me. Long-term impacts to our city, environment and more, have to be taken into consideration, in my opinion. And, in his closing remarks, the mayor made it clear he does as well, saying "I am all for growth and development, obviously, but it must make sense and never be a potential detriment to our community."
