What Montana Parents Need to Know About Online Dangers
Technology, such as the internet or apps, have been both a blessing and a curse to humanity in my opinion.
On one hand, it's made the world smaller and help increased everyone's knowledge of the world surrounding us.
However, it has also provided individuals with harmful intentions more resources to inflict harm on our loved ones, as a recent incident in Texas clearly illustrates.
The Terrifying Truth About Teen Apps Every Parent Should Hear
Two 15-year-old girls were recently raped at gunpoint after Snapchatting with two other teenage boys.
The two suspects, who are innocent until proven guilty, 19-year-old Darville Reginald Allen and 20-year-old Abdul, picked up their victims at a friend's house, who were then driven to Randall Reed Stadium, a football field in New Caney, Texas, according to KHOU.
It was at this location that the girls were raped at gunpoint while being filmed. Once the sexual assault was over, they were driven back to their friend's house.
Thankfully the girls immediately told their parents, and an investigation was opened.
This serves as a critical reminder to parents in Montana to discuss with your children the risks associated with communicating and meeting people online. It is also important to be aware of what website and apps your children are using.
