It has been nearly six years since the pandemic turned everything upside down.

It has also been almost six years since Montana suddenly became the place everyone wanted to move to. Lately though, it feels like things might finally be cooling off, because Montana is no longer being labeled as one of the best places to live.

No Montana Cities Make Latest U.S. News List

Every year, U.S. News releases a list of the 250 best places to live in America. This year, not a single Montana city made the cut.

There are a couple ways to look at that. One is to say U.S. News has no idea what they are talking about, because Montana is full of amazing places to call home.

The other way to see it is that maybe this means fewer people will decide to pack up and move here.

New Residents And The Montana Way Of Life

If you ask just about anyone born and raised in Montana, they will probably tell you that too many people have already moved here without really understanding the Montana way of life.

So when a national publication like U.S. News leaves Montana off its list, it kind of lets the Treasure State slip back under the radar. And honestly, a lot of Montanans are perfectly fine with that. That goes for both the folks who were born here and the ones who moved here years ago and truly made it home.

Sure, it is nice to get some recognition now and then, but Montana has had plenty of attention lately. We are more than okay letting other cities have the spotlight for a while.
