What it Takes to Be a Game Warden in the Montana Outdoors

In Montana, game wardens with the MFWP are law enforcement officers of the state.  Each individual is required to successfully complete the Montana Law Enforcement Academy Basic Course or have previous law enforcement experience equal to MLEAB.

Wardens should be prepared and willing to move anywhere in the state, be in top physical condition and be able to function in all weather extremes, under adverse working conditions and for prolonged patrols and activities.

Current MFWP Game Warden Openings and How to Apply in Montana

Currently the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks are searching for 15 individuals to become game wardens in the state.  Locations for those openings include:

  • Kalispell
  • Billings
  • Missoula
  • Miles City
  • Bozeman
  • Havre
  • Great Falls
