Bannack State Park to Celebrate Halloween with Ghost Walks Soon

As summer has officially ended, Fall is ready to steamroll us into the last week of September and set us up for the next big thing on the calendar.  It's time to start talking about Halloween and ways to celebrate across Montana.

If you love the old west of the state and love the hair on the back of your neck standing tall at times, there isn't really a better place to experience the way things were back in the old days like that of the Bannack State Park and the Bannack Ghost Walks that come for the spooky season in October.

Bannack State Park to Celebrate Halloween with Ghost Walks Soon

The Bannack State Park is home to the first major gold strike found in Montana in 1862 and would become Montana's territorial capitol with estimates of over 3.000 inhabitants by 1863.  But once the gold ran low, so did the people and the buildings.

But that Montana history lives on in the park, with the former boomtown considered one of the most haunted areas in Montana.  Those stories of long gone will be on display on October 23 and 24, 2026, for the annual Ghost Town Tours.  But organizers say be prepared if you've never attended before.

If the hair on your arm needs some tingling, you had better sign up soon as the tours are limited to 7pm and 9pm for each of the two dates for the Ghost Walk Tour.  The event lasts about one and a half hours, and attendees should dress for Fall weather.

Officials also offered some tips for newcomers to the fright filled night saying "There will be loud, blank gunfire in several of the scenes. Dogs, small children, and people who may have issues with loud sudden noises are not recommended to attend this event."  To get more information and tickets to the annual event, click here.
