Great Falls History Museum Set to Re-Open This Weekend
In Great Falls, the History Museum hosts a vast collection of Central Montana history. Over the last several weeks, the museum has been closed for remodeling and are busy adding a new research center and viewing vault.
This latest project aims to add environmental controls for fragile archival materials where there are currently none, to upgrade storage capacity in the special collections and archives, and to expand the education space.
Safe Spaces for Irreplaceable Artifacts and Historical Documents for Montana
As with all expansions and additions at the museum, the aim is to continue the mission to preserve our unique history. Project goals include:
- Climate control for artifacts and archives storage
Restoring windowed wall in our historic building for a Visible Vault where guests can observe preservation work and conservation treatments
New windows on the second floor

- Archival shelving for special collections
