Backyards.  Besides the kitchen, is there another place behind your white picket fence that will get more use through the years?  Or perhaps abuse, if you have children, pets, squirrels, pretty much anything besides a huge “please stay off the lawn” sign planted squarely where everyone will ignore it.

The backyard has been the staging area for many a camping night, various outdoor games, family gatherings, it all happens out in the yard.  Undoubtedly you have probably looked at your yard compared to someone else’s in the neighborhood or even within the family.  Does it live up to expectations when you host a sweet 16 party, a retirement party, BBQ or just the two of you enjoying an evening?

I mow.  I weed eat.  I take care of the original rose bush that has refused to die over 26 years, no matter how badly I neglect it.  Which led me to start a search for perhaps other plants and flowers that I wouldn’t be able to easily send over the plant rainbow bridge.  A few quick keystrokes, and I had my answer!  The Gardening Dad had my back!  Upon looking through the offerings, many of them we already had, or didn’t fit with our style and flavor.  I then clicked on his bio and he’s from Ohio?  On one acre?  How is it he knows what looks awesome in my backyard, right here in Great Falls, MONTANA!

I swiftly clicked exit on my browser and returned out to my yard to take pictures of some of the amazing flowers, plants and more that my wife already had in place.  While everyone has favorite colors, styles, heights, coverage ideas and more here are 5 of my favorites from my yard to get you started for the remainder of summer. What colors or types of plants or flowers would you choose to brighten your yard?  Reach us in the comments below, you could be featured on the Max Morning Show!
