ABS Recall is Out Now for Dodge Pickups in Montana
If you tow anything with your vehicle, you know the importance of pulling power in your pickup truck. You also know the importance of being able to brake with that load behind you.
Having those brakes fail, whether towing or not, is now the center of a new recall for Chrysler Motors. Dodge pickups are now at the forefront of another major manufacturing recall.
Several Different Models Affected on Montana Roads with Recall
The new recall, announced through the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration is for the following Chrysler/Dodge pickup trucks:
- 2017-2018 Ram 3500 Pickups
- 2017-2018 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis
- 2017-2018 Ram 3500 <10k Lb. Cab Chassis
- 2017-2018 Ram 2500 Pickup
- 2017-2018 Ram 4500/5500 Cab Chassis

Total numbers for vehicles recalled in the report are 317,630 with the defect with the automatic braking system (ABS).
What to Look for and How to Report Your Vehicle in Montana
The recall from the NHTSA states that:
Some 2017-2018 MYRam 3500 vehicles may have been built with a brake hydraulic control unit ("HCU") that is susceptible to failure or malfunction which may result in a reduction or change of Anti-Lock Brake System ("ABS")/Electronic Stability Control ("ESC") /Traction Control performance.

Dealers across Montana have been notified of the recall as of December 5, 2024. Owners of vehicles affected should receive a notification letter beginning on January 9, 2025. You can read more on the recall here.
