The Quick History of This Suburb of The Electric City

When the town opened its post office in 1917, it officially became "Black Eagle" but had been known previously by the name of Little Chicago up to that time.  From Wikipedia, they state the town received the name from Capt. Meriwether Lewis after he saw the Black Eagle Falls.  The area is also known for many bald eagles that are seen near the dams and along the Missouri River.  Known for being a miner area, the first smelting stack was constructed in 1891.
