Sheriff Suspends Search in Great Falls for Missing Woman

In an announcement through social media on Monday December 16, 2024, the Cascade County Sheriff's Office has suspended the search for 46-year-old Alicia Wood of Conrad, Montana.

According to law enforcement, Wood was reported missing on November 30, 2024. The reporting party said that she had last been seen on November 22, 2024.

Search in Cascade County to Continue with Assistance from CCSO

The search for Wood began after a lead with the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI).  That search began at the High Plains Landfill, 7 miles north of Great Falls on December 5, 2024.  Cascade County Sheriff's Office with other agencies combed the landfill for 9 days.  As of now, they have not found the body of Wood.

In the release, Sheriff Jesse Slaughter stated that "The investigation and search efforts will continue under the lead of the Pondera County Sheriff’s Office and DCI. The Cascade County Sheriff’s Office will assist these agencies in whatever way possible to find Wood."

How to Report Information in Montana Woman's Disappearance

Sheriff Slaughter expressed optimism and thanks for the efforts of all parties involed in the search at the landfill.  The sheriff said that "This is not a decision we took lightly, however; we feel we have conducted a thorough search of our landfill based on the information and leads provided."

He continued by saying "As I said at the beginning of our search this is just one lead in this investigation. I’m confident that the Division of Criminal Investigation will continue to follow all current and future leads."
