• Havre Police have announced a break in a recent homicide within the city located on the Highline of Montana
• Detectives have arrested a suspect in the homicide of a 35-year-old female in Havre, MT on May 7, 2025
• Agencies including police and sheriff from Montana and Idaho were able to arrest the suspect without incident in Coeur d' Alene, ID

The Havre Police Department have identified and arrested a suspect in the homicide of a 35-year-old woman that happened on May 7, 2025, in the city.

The suspect arrested, Cody Rencurel, was arrested on May 9th, 2025, in Coeur d' Alene, ID.  The arrest warrant for Rencurel is for deliberate homicide of Havre, MT resident Dixie Schroeder.

Evidence at Scene of Crime in Havre Led Police to Suspicious Circumstances

In the initial findings during the homicide investigation, police determined that foul play was likely in the death of the woman.  Upon further follow up with other agencies in Montana, a suspect was found to be in possession of the deceased woman's vehicle in Coeur d' Alene, ID.

Agencies from Havre, the state of Montana and departments in Idaho combined to arrest Rencural without incident.  He is currently being held at the Kootenai County Detention Center on the charge of deliberate homicide.

Scary Details of Suspect Emerge When Arrested

During the arrest of the suspect, and search of property also revealed that the individual was planning additional violent crimes.  The investigation into the homicide continues with agents and officers following up additional leads.
