Montana Shooting Sports Task Force Survey Available Now to Public
One of the great things about Montana (among many) is public lands. The ability to head out into the wilderness and enjoy a time forgotten is immeasurable. And one of the common pastimes on those lands is popping a few shots off at a target.
Shooting sports in Montana is more than just sighting the rifle in for hunting season. So much so that the Montana Legislature recently passed House Bill 899, creating the Montana Shooting Facilities and Improvements Development and Oversight Task Force. That task force is now looking to the public for help to create a future plan in the state for shooting enthusiasts.

With HB899, the task force has set about to identify the need of shooting facilities in Montana. Those needs could include improving the existing facilities across the state, or even creating new ones where needed.

The first of several upcoming meetings was recently held in Great Falls for public input. Future meetings are still in the planning phases for in person and online according to the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks division. The new task force has also created an online questionnaire to garner input from the public on the facilities.
How to Access the Online Shooting Sports Questionnaire with MFWP
Currently, the Task Force is collecting information from the public and "individual shooters to better understand shooting access, participation, and unmet needs across Montana" to determine future plans.
The survey is available through a joint effort with MFWP. To access the survey, click the link here to fill out the questionnaire. Results from the public input "will be used to guide funding recommendations and help demonstrate statewide need for shooting facility investments." You can learn more about the task force here.
