The holidays mean the opportunity for me to break out the dessert book and find something new and creative for our family and friends to enjoy at the holiday table.  But sometimes, a time crunch can cause me to use other options.

Such as stopping into one of the awesome places we have across Great Falls that offer fresh-baked desserts to bring home and enjoy.  I mean, who hasn't had the craving for a champagne cake from Hempl's Bakery or a muffin from The Double Barrel Coffee House?  But what if it's too late and you need another alternative?  Off to the grocery store we go!

Are Great Falls Walmart Bakers Better Than Other States

Grocery stores across Great Falls offer wonderful choices in the bakery sections as well, and are often open when you most need them, right up to the last minute of your holiday.  Even our box stores like Walmart offer great baked goods, like pies.

Our own two locations of the store in Great Falls have excellent folks behind the ovens making our baked goods.  I love the ciabatta buns for pulled pork; the cinnamon rolls are great at camp on the weekend, and don't even get me started on the lemon or banana breads.  But a food ranking says that isn't so about the pies, and now I am rankled with some unknown person and their test.

They Should Have Flown to Great Falls (or anywhere) and Tried Them

The test, conducted by Chowhound, put the store's pumpkin pie at the very bottom.  Impossible.  Especially in our city.  And that's the problem with this poll.  It's from one location somewhere other than Great Falls.  You can't tell me they tried a pie from every state and bakery.

Regardless of where you choose to buy your favorite dessert for the holiday or any day for that matter, check your local reviews before trusting someone in another state if you get in a pinch or just don't want the hassle this year.  You may find a favorite hidden amongst the gourds.  Especially with the talent of Great Falls bakers creating those delectable dessert favorites.
