With summer finally here, that means more road trips, more weekends away, and unfortunately, more stops at the gas station.

We all know we're paying more at the pump lately, but what might surprise you is just how much prices have jumped here in Montana.

Higher Gas Prices Are Hitting Montana Drivers Hard

Since the conflict involving Iran began, gas prices have climbed across every state. Some states have seen bigger jumps than others, even neighboring states.

Here in Montana, we might not have the highest gas prices in America, but we have seen the biggest increase since the conflict began.

States like California and Hawaii are still paying more than $5 a gallon, but their prices didn't jump nearly as much as ours did. Montana's increase has been the largest in the nation.

Montana Has Seen The Biggest Gas Price Increase In America

Right now, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Montana sits at $4.11. That's up $1.32 from before the conflict, a 47.6% increase.

In a state where driving an hour or two is just part of everyday life, those higher prices add up in a hurry. Whether you're commuting to work, hauling a trailer, or heading out camping for the weekend, you're definitely feeling it every time you fill the tank.

The good news is gas prices can come back down pretty quickly if oil markets settle down.

The bad news is that's still a pretty big "if."

For now, it's another reminder that events happening halfway around the world can still hit your wallet right here in Montana.
