Great Falls, You Are Cheap, But in A Good Way
Great Falls, You Are Cheap, But in A Good Way
The word cheap can have some bad connotations depending on how it used. You never want cheap work done for you; it generally leads to the old cliche of "you get what you pay for" in most cases.
But in this particular case, it's almost a grand use of the word when combining it with our fair city of Great Falls. We've been named one of the cheapest places to live in a new article from Mediafeed and that really is grand.
While We Didn't Make the Number One Slot, We Finished Well
Ok, so we didn't take the top spot. That was reserved for the richest hill on Earth, better known as Butte. Other cities that were popular for being cheap across Montana include Billings and Helena.
Great Falls finished above those two, taking the second-place spot. With a cost-of-living expense at 87.4% of the national average, it's attractive to retirees and also new to home ownership families.
A Few Red Flags Are Also Present in the Data Released
I am ecstatic that Great Falls finished the way they did within the article. However, there were a few things in the data that were, at least for me, red flags that might cause someone to not choose our city.
Two of the most glaring to me were that of our median income being the second lowest among the cities listed. Another red flag is our average property tax. Great Falls comes in at the 2nd highest, only behind Missoula when collecting these.
