Cutting Fences Foundation in Montana Receive Large Grant for Upgrades
Long before I became a voice on the radio, I grew up driving tractors, feeding cattle, fixing fences and planting crops on our ranch in central Montana. One of the first things you're taught is exactly how dangerous the gig is.
The immense equipment with various whirling sharp objects driven by the p.t.o shaft out the back of the tractor. Sickle blades like razors on combines and swathers. Circling metal tines reaching out from the baler. You get the idea. Thankfully, I never had to experience a traumatic injury. But those events happen.

In those years of ranching, I witnessed people lose fingers to ropes around a saddle horn, broken hips and ribs, even severe barbed wire accidents. And in all of them, each person just wanted to be back on the ranch tending crops, cattle and the land.

For those that have suffered traumatic injuries but want to continue to be able to tend the land and get chores done, the Cutting Fences Foundation is a helping hand, with specialized equipment designed for doing just that; getting back to the ranch or farm.
A new grant for the foundation has just been announced as the group is gearing up for a major upgrade to their facility in Montana. And it means even more access to that specialized equipment for those wanting to get back to what they love.
Familiar Name in Central Montana Continues to Leave Legacy for Others
Many in central Montana have heard of or even hunted on the former Strand Ranch, between Geyser and Geraldine, Montana. The stewards of that ranch, Leroy and Claris Strand, initiated the Strand Foundation. In doing so, they continue to give back to communities and businesses with grant funding, scholarships and more.
The Cutting Fences Foundation is the latest recipient of those aspirations of the Strands with the announcement of a $30,000 donation for help building the new Rural Resource Barn. The barn will be used to "increase our capacity to serve farmers, ranchers, and Veterans with disabilities by giving us the space to expand our adaptive equipment inventory and mission" according to the social media post.
