Ok, ok. I am an optimistic person to say the least. Even though we are facing the dog days of the summer and almost triple digit temperatures in the last few weeks, I know fall is coming.
Colder weather means getting back out some of the inside cooking utensils in my house. One of those being my favorite, the crockpot.

Don't worry, you don't need to start worrying about a recall on your favorite crockpot. But in wandering the internet for a few new recipes to try this upcoming fall, I did run across a warning involving using any crockpot out there.

The Daily Express says that we are doing two major things wrong when it comes to using the crockpot. Both of them could lead to illness.
Frozen Foods and Re-Heating Ingredients are the Bad Habit to Break
According to Daily Express and the Department of Agriculture, putting frozen, uncooked food into your crockpot before properly thawing isn't good for you. Instead, those foods should be thawed, then placed in the cooker.

The same applies for previously cooked meals that you place in frozen. Even though they are cooked, they could be taking too long to unthaw while reaching temperature, causing bacteria to form. Again, proper unthawing of your food can help avoid a food illness.
