Congratulations, you probably are close to filling out that card if you had that along with recalls of everything from airbags to spices to dog food.

Possible Breach May Affect Billions, Including Montana Internet Users

The possible breach, reported by Bloomberg, says that in terms of sheer numbers, this could rival the largest breach ever from 2013 involving Yahoo with 3 billion users being affected.

Montana internet users, regardless of provider, could have had personal information released unknowingly such as:

  • Social Security numbers
  • Past addresses spanning decades
  • Information about relatives, including deaths

Information about the data breach was first noticed in April of this year.

As of now, this is only a "possible" data breach according to Bloomberg.  However, the cybercriminal group USDoD has claimed to have the data and offering it for sale on the "dark web".

As of now, the company named in the breach, National Public Data, has yet to respond to a proposed class action lawsuit that exposed the data leak.
