5 of the Best Sides in Montana for Thanksgiving Dinner
5 of the Best Sides in Montana for Thanksgiving Dinner
It is one of the best seasons. Sure, I miss my golf when the snow flies, but I also know that I will be enjoying one of my other favorite seasons and passions. All the food!
The food coma holiday season is back again and that means that the stops all get pulled out for the best dishes to serve through the celebrations.
I Am a Traditionalist, Bring the Original Stuff, Not the New
Over the years it seems to me that the side dishes that are served during the holidays have changed a little bit. Traditional items become replaced with something newfangled that seems out of place on the table.
I mean seriously, if you bring me sweet potato nachos to gnaw on during the game, I will probably find a new family. The same goes for seafood linguine or a Christmas taco.
My Top 5 Side Dishes to Serve This Holiday Season at Your Table
Keeping the traditions alive for the holidays in our home is something that I take pride in. While we may throw a curveball occasionally, we try to stay true to the favorites.
One of the major ones that always will be found in my home, and I am sure many others is some sort of a casserole. You've probably also used that famous red and white labled can of goodness to make one of those. So, it isn't a surprise that Campbell's has a list that matches mine perfectly.
Here are your top 5 dishes to serve this year for the holidays:
- Mashed Potatoes - agreed. But if the gravy isn't up to snuff with those, it can be a total loss on the dish.
- Stuffing - agreed. As long as it doesn't get mushy. Nothing worse than a celery that is overcooked beyond recognition.
- Mac and Cheese - agreed, kind of. I like this dish if you have a lot of younger folks around the table. It's a main staple that can please many a young child's palette.
- Sweet Potato Casserole - agreed. It's tradition. While not a huge favorite of mine, (you won't have to worry about fork marks from me trying to steal a bite), but it is a favorite of the majority of my family.
- Green Bean Casserole - agreed. 10 times over agreed. And if it does not have the crunch onions on top, you will need to make a trip to the store then.
