With 2025 underway, Mother Nature in Big Sky Country has decided that we really do need to have some winter weather. Storms have been bringing much needed snowpack to our mountains and allows us to try out a new snowblower.
But with that fluffy white stuff also comes the cold. Both as a temperature and also as an affliction. Cold and flu season is upon us in Montana.

For the most part, I think Montana residents know how to deal with the cold. Unfortunately, it means that even knowing the do's and don'ts of our health, we also realize we have to be out in the elements.

Influenza Cases on the Rise in Montana During Current "Flu Season"
According to the Montana Department of Health and Human Services, the current flu season began in September 2024 and will end in May of 2025. As of now, MDHHS reports that:
- Over 2000 cases reported during current season
- 115 Hospitalizations due to influenza
- 4 Deaths due to influenza
