
Montana to Be a Full Moon Viewers Paradise Wrapping 2025
This probably won't be a revelation or breaking news for some of you that choose to set your alarm for the early morning hours. But getting up at the butt-crack of dawn every day isn't the most glamorous thing.
But being a glass is always half-full kind of person; I try to see some of the good things about getting up before the sun. One of those literal "bright spots" of my mornings is catching the moon rising over the Electric City and illuminating my way to the studios.

For the final months of 2025, Mother Nature will be lighting up the sky with 3 full moons across Big Sky Country. It even includes a super moon that happens on October 6, peaking on Wednesday (Oct. 8) morning.

The Harvest Moon this month will be the largest and brightest of the year. It will appear about 7% bigger than usual and about 15% brighter for the event. The Harvest Moon gets its name dating back to as early as 1706, falling on the first full moon closest to the autumnal equinox of the year.
Harvest Moon One of Three Super Moons in Montana to Close out 2025
Following the Harvest Moon, Montana sky viewers will have 2 more supermoons that will happen before the end of the year. November will feature the "Beaver Moon" beginning on Wednesday, November 5th, 2025.
The third and final super and full moon of 2025 will hit skies across Montana on December 4th, 2025. The "Super Cold Moon" is the last full moon of Autumn and the Full Moon in Gemini.
