Your Name – Is It Legal In Certain Parts Of The World?
In recent years, there seems to have been a proliferation of baby names that perhaps may come across as odd, perplexing, strange or just really of the "what were the parents thinking" kind of mentality. I am not trying to make light of those names, they just don't necessarily fit the societal norms of naming a child.
For instance, one only needs to head to the celebrity headlines to find the stars coming up with out of the box thinking. Whether that be Elon Musk and Grimes, Kim Kardashian or even Gwyneth Paltrow. But are those names legal when venturing out into the big old world?
Some names should be obvious that could create unfortunate circumstances for not only the child, but the family. However, the U.S.A. doesn't outlaw one of the more offensive! Some countries have outlawed any reference to royalty or the devil in some cases. But there also some oddities of regular names that are also on the list put together by the great folks at Stacker. They looked across tons of databases across the world to find that even a Linda or a Sarah can be found across the world.
Check our gallery below to see if your name is on that list of illegal names across the world. And for those that were keeping track for which one my own name would be illegal in, you aren't allowed the letter "c" in your name, find out where that is below. It's kind of a bummer actually, I would love to visit there!
