Winter Weather Resources Available for Homeless in Great Falls
It is an ever-increasing problem across the United States. The plight of individuals living in poverty and without a home. In Montana, I believe the problem becomes even worse when you factor in our weather patterns for the state.

We of course have a few more months of colder weather than we do of the sunshine and warm ones. Finding shelter during those months can be difficult for the homeless. But in Great Falls, several different businesses and locations are stepping up.
Montana is One of the Worst State for Homelessness in the US
According to Good Samaritan Ministries, between the years of 2007 and 2023, "Montana had the second-largest percentage increase in the number of people experiencing homelessness at 89% and the third-largest percentage increase from 2022 to 2023 at 45%."

And if those statistics don't give you a flutter, it was also revealed by the report from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s 2023 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report that "Montana saw the highest percentage increase in the number of individuals experiencing chronic patterns of homelessness at 551%."
These Places Offer Respite from the Harsh Montana Weather in Great Falls
For those that need support because of homelessness, there are several ways to stay safe and warm in Great Falls.

- Great Falls Rescue Mission - when it feels like 15 degrees or lower in daytime or 32 degrees at night
- First United Methodist Church - when it feels like 25 or 32 with wind and snow
- Alliance for Youth
- Great Falls Public Library
- St. Vincent De Paul Angel Room
- City-County Health Department
