This Crazy Going Green Idea Isn’t Going to Work in Montana

The idea of going green across the world seems like a great idea, but in Montana, I just can't see the electrical vehicle "craze" getting much traction in our winter storms or the gumbo of the eastern side of the state.

Don't get me wrong, I see some benefits, like cash coming back, but if I can't make it from A to B without a recharge, is it really worth it?

Looks Good on Paper, Not So Great in Application Instances

They really do look great on paper.  Electric seems to be a coming thing.  Instant power, constant power, saving the Earth, blah, blah, blah.

If it can't tow over King's Hill with a camper trailer or load of horses, what good is it to anyone?  There is a plethora of stories across the web that feature one or another vehicle company trying to haul something.  It never goes well.  Basically, dead in the water is how you are going to end up.

It Isn't Going to Happen in Montana Anytime Soon

In California, a new law when into effect in March of this year which will require that more than half of all "heavy vehicles" sold in the state must be electric by 2035.  Good for them I guess if they aren't hauling anything through the Sierra Mountains.  But it also made me think about how such a truck would be able to navigate through Montana.  Not only in summer, but I can't imagine what it would be like to have to try to get through any of the passes in our state with an electric semi-truck during a snowstorm.
