Shelter Pets Win in Montana with Amazing Save Rates
I've mentioned several times about the willingness of people in Great Falls and Montana to be able to open their wallets and homes to whatever is needed. Helping causes, it seems, runs deep in our communities.
But it isn't just people that Montana folks are helping each and every day. The plight of homeless pets also garners our attention. Thankfully, as with other events or groups, we step up to the plate for adoptions across the state.
Kill Shelters are a Thing of the Past in America and in Montana
Across Montana, more and more animal shelters are turning to "no-kill" shelters. Of the 26 shelters listed through the Best Friends Organization, 21 of those do not euthanize animals.

Data from reporting shelters for Best Friends shows that Montana had 22,718 pets entered into shelters for 2023. Of those, 21,325 were saved for a total save rate of 93.9%.
Data For Cascade County in Montana Even Better Than State Average
In Cascade County, there are 2 shelters, with many service groups such as Pet-Pawsee that help with homeless and shelter pets. In reporting data, the Great Falls Animal Shelter and the McClain Cameron Adoption Center showed even better numbers.

Great Falls shelters entered in 1,930 animals for 2023. Of those, 1,827 were adopted and placed. Both shelters in Great Falls are listed as "no-kill" shelters.
