Great Falls Pools Are Opening Soon for Summer Enjoyment
As Mother Nature continues to appear to be messing with the thermostat in our Montana springtime, the hot days of summer are sure to be on the way. And we will all (kids included) will be looking for a way to keep cool during them.
In a sign that the weather will get warmer, the Great Falls Park and Recreation Department is gearing up with the date that our local public pools across Great Falls will be opening up; and we won't have to wait much longer.

Great Falls Pools Are Opening Soon for Summer Enjoyment
Residents of the Electric City will be able to don a bathing suit or trunks and take a dip at the city's public pools beginning on June 6, 2026. The Electric City Waterpark and the Neighborhood Pools will be open at 12pm for the summer. Other good news about the openings includes the Lions Park Splash Pad opening on May 24, 2026.

Unfortunately, with the good news, there was also some bad news in the announcement. The department stated that "both the Flow Rider and Lazy River will be closed this summer due to safety reasons." The social media post continued, saying "We completely understand there might be some disappointment surrounding this, but we want to make sure visitors are safe."
Why Won't the Flow Rider or Lazy River be Operational in 2026 in Great Falls?
As for the why behind those safety reasons, turns out there are big issues that are affecting the two popular attractions. After initial inspection during repairs, contractors discovered "chemical, electrical, and pump problems as well as concerns with the structural integrity of the amenity (leaks and cracks)" resulting in the features not meeting state codes.
For now, the City of Great Falls will be considering repair options, and other possible solutions including replacing the two water features completely. That option the city said, could "be more cost effective than continuing to repair what we currently have." Kind of a bummer, but I am glad that the city is being mindful of the public's safety.
