Oftentimes, I feel like there are some things that I just take for granted.  Especially when it comes to special events surrounding our holidays.  For instance, egg hunts.  All of the prep that is required to make those happen, from finding prizes to stuffing eggs to hiding them, it all takes time, effort and volunteers.

The next big upcoming holiday event isn't any different.  I often take for granted all of the effort it takes to make the fall into what it is meant to be.  Many times, efforts are started early in the spring or summer to make these events happen.

Like pumpkin patches.

Starting Early to Make Sure Everything Comes Off as Planned in the Fall

Starting in May, Jason with Pumpkins for a Cause begins the journey of bringing the pumpkin patch alive.  Seeds are germinated and starters begin in the house.

Planting of those seeds takes place in the first week of June, with hundreds of mounds, each with 7 seeds per mound.

In just one month, those small seeds will leap out of the ground and begin their journey to becoming a pumpkin.

Just a short couple of weeks later, the vining stage starts, leading to pumpkins.

How To Become a Volunteer for the 2023 Pumpkins for a Cause Event

This year, the annual event rolls into Vaughn, Montana on September 30th, 2023.  Each year, Jordan grows pumpkins and selects a non-profit organization to benefit from his efforts. Jordan invites folks out for one day each fall to pick pumpkins and enjoy some fall family fun while leaving behind a donation to benefit the non-profit. It's his way of giving back to the community. Last year's event raised just shy of $14,000 for Alliance for Youth, the 2022 selected charity. Jordan donates all funds raised during the event directly to the charity.

Pumpkins for a Cause is currently looking for volunteers that needed to help with the prep, harvest, set up and the event itself.  If you would like to find out more about the event or volunteer, contact them at their Facebook page here.  You can also follow the information on the flier below.
