Poor Parking in Montana Could Lead to Being Scammed
Trends Leave but Manage to Worm Their Way Back to Us in Montana and Beyond
The funny thing about trends is that for as long or short that they last, once gone, it is inevitable that it will trend back around at some point.
Whether it is clothing, music, even some of the vehicles we see on the roadways are throwbacks to trends that were a hit. It also appears that scams on people can make a comeback out there as well.
Better Business Bureau Warned Us Last Year About This Trend
According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) scammers are again targeting legal parking vehicles with fake tickets.
While you are away from your car, scammers use high-tech, hand-held printers to make a fake ticket and leave it on your car's windshield.
Pretty slick, right? The phony citation will generally include an email address, website or even PayPal for you to log on and pay at. Scammers have also included QR codes to be scanned and accept bogus payments.

Stay Safe from Scammers Trying to Target You in Montana and Abroad
The BBB offers up a few tips to stay safe from those that would want to try to scam in this fashion.
- Know before you park. Find safe parking areas before going to a new area. Many times, scammers will target vehicles with out of state plates for an easy mark.
- Examine the ticket. Google your local town and find their official website. Do logos match up? Do websites match up exactly?
- Pay traffic fines by credit card if possible. It is easier to contest fraudulent charges if you are scammed.
