At the rate that vehicles are rising in price, it seems like buying a new rig is more like an investment than a mode of transportation. Average prices are hovering near $48,000 in 2024, and people are driving vehicles that are over 12 years old on average now.
Having that investment tampered with isn't fun. I have had several of my cars broken in to over the years and it tears you up. I couldn't even imagine if I came out to leave for work and my car wasn't in the driveway. It happens to folks more often than you think, even in Montana.

In Montana, according to data from Macrotrends, the stolen vehicle rate in our state as of 2018 was over 263 vehicles stolen per 100,000 population. That is an almost 7% increase from the previous year, and rates have continued to climb.
