It continues today.  I play on a custom-built gaming computer and on my PlayStation 5.  And I am always looking for the next best game to get my hands on.  Hackers know that about gamers and are looking to take advantage of that in the new year.

New Threat to Montana Gamers Online Through Chat Software

For gamers who play online, a popular software associated with chat, streaming, video playback and more is being targeted.  This new phishing scam involves the program Discord, and yes, they are after your personal information.

The scam is an easy one.  Offer up something incredible for just some easy personal information.  Cybercriminals offer the opportunity to try a new game.  The message appears to be from the game’s developer asking you to test the game, making it seem convincing.  Beware!  It isn't!

Straight Into a Hacker's Computer from Your Montana Home Internet

Avoid replying to any messages you receive from outside, un-verifiable sources.  If you do respond, you will be asked to click a link to download the new game.  Don't do it!  the link actually contains malware designed to steal your personal information.
