Should You Spend Holiday Cash for This Game Right Now
If you are a gamer or maybe know someone who is, you may be aware about one of the most anticipated games being released on Friday this past week. The latest in the Modern Warfare/Call of Duty/Black Ops franchise dropped onto desktops and gaming machines to a lot of hype.
It is still early to tell how well the game will be in comparison to others, but the gaming community has been sounding off on the new features, maps and modes online throughout the weekend to mixed reviews. Should you make the jump and spend your holiday cash for it just yet?

Should You Spend Holiday Cash for This Game Right Now
I've been playing this franchise since Modern Warfare 2, a classic still to this day. Throughout the years, most of the newer iterations have been decent. So, pre-ordering the new Black Ops 7 for me was a no-brainer. Even with the hefty price tag for the Deluxe Version at $99.99. Yes, I am sucker for "deluxe versions" in ANY game.

The standard version will hit you for $69.99, unless you catch a special at one of the many gaming download services available. While pretty standard for games in today's market, you might want to wait for a deal on this one.
Sure, it has all these fancy modes to choose from, but if you played any version of this game previously, you will be in for a few surprises when you dive in.
My Scrambled Thoughts on Black Ops 7 - A Montana Gamer Perspective
After a weekend of random gaming sessions in between chores, I am going to have to say to hold on to your cash for Black Ops 7, especially for seasoned players of the franchise. It just isn't worth it. There are several reasons for giving that opinion.
Admittingly, the above photo is taken of my computer screen, and those photos aren't the best. But the graphics are so over the top A.I. generated, it makes me wonder if any artists were involved. Other areas that need improvement or that make me shake my controller include:
- Tweaking the UI - I recommend learning more about your controller/mouse settings for aiming, etc. You can import your previous settings though, a cool new feature. Otherwise, expect to be shot in the butt. Over and over.
- Wall jumping is back - Super jump is enabled. The number of times I fall prey to someone just spamming it is unbearable on certain maps.
- Campaign Mode - Be prepared for a long session. And you must play online now. There are no more waypoints to save at, and they have removed pause in game.
- Spawn Locations - COD has never been great at this, but BO7 is some of the worst I have encountered.
Overall, I would give the game a solid 7 out of 10 for a score. It's fine, but it could be much better, especially at the price point. There are a few things that are decent, but maybe waiting for a sale at Steam or grabbing a used copy in a couple of months is probably better. Especially at the holidays.
