What to Know About the Wild Burro Sale in Montana
When doing research for various articles or items to relate while being a part of a morning radio show, it amazes me the number of things I really don't know about my home state.
For instance, I knew that Montana was home to wild horses on Bureau of Land Management areas within the state. However, what I didn't realize is that we also have a wild burro herd that roams those BLM lands between us and the Dakotas. And you can even purchase one at an upcoming sale.
The Wild Horse and Burro Management Program with BLM
The BLM manages nearly 27 million acres of land across 10 states that have some form of wild horses, burros or a combination of them. According to BLM, those horses and burros are "descendants of animals that were released or escaped from Spanish explorers, ranchers, miners, the U.S. Cavalry and Native Americans".

BLM also stated that the "wild horses and burros are known for their sure-footedness, strength, intelligence and endurance; with kindness and patience, these animals can be trained for many uses". The opportunity to find out if that is true is coming up with the "Meet Your Match: Montana Burro Pickup" coming soon.
