In data researched by the group at Kobocents, Montana didn't make the top of the list, but we respectfully place in 7th overall place using their criteria for the happiest places to retire.

Stats like property taxes on homes being fairly reasonable, net capital gains, and our seasons. Having a true four-season year allows retirees many options to enjoy their time. Skiing, hiking, water sports, golf and more are all an attraction for those looking to enjoy their twilight years.

I will say this about our state, you can choose so many different areas to live in, there really is a "feeling" for everyone. Of course, there are the mountains that everyone loves, but Montana also offers more.
