The National Weather Service Is Changing The Way They Warn Montanans Of Dangerous Weather
The National Weather Service has advised us of weather for years. We listen for the air temperatures, snow or rainfall and wind chill in order to prepare for our day in Montana.

Instead of the wind chill advisory or wind chill warnings we are used to hearing, they are changing things up a bit.
What Is A Wind Chill Advisory/Warning/Watch
From the National Weather Service:
"A Wind Chill Advisory means that wind chill values are expected to fall to between -20° and -29°F within the next 24 to 36 hours."
"A Wind Chill Warning means that wind chill values are expected to fall to -30°F or lower within the next 24 to 48 hours."
"A Wind Chill Watch means that wind chill values are expected to fall to -30°F or lower within the next two to three days."
Why Is The NWS Changing Things
In order to stream line things, the National Weather Service wants to make it easy to prepare for weather events with or without the wind chill.
What Is The New Weather Terminology In Montana
From the National Weather Service:
Extreme Cold Advisory/Warning/Watch
Extreme Cold Advisory: Watch the colder air and dress appropriately
Extreme Cold Watch: Dangerously cold temperatures are possible.
Extreme Warning: It is extremely cold. Take every precaution to protect yourself from the weather.
Freeze Watch/Warning/Frost Advisory
From The National Weather Service:
Frost Advisory: Areas of frost are expected. Could effect outside plants
Freeze Watch: Areas of widespread freezing temperatures in the next 24-36 hours
Freeze Warning: Temperatures will be below 32 for an extended time. Could affect homes, crops and plants
