A few days ago, I scribbled up an article about my disdain for the Richardson's Ground Squirrels here in Great Falls and how I feel that they are about to overrun the city.

Many folks in town seemed to agree with my thoughts about these little buggers and how something has to be done sooner rather than later.

As luck would have it, that same day, upon pulling into my neighborhood, I noticed a rather significant presence of cottontails.

If that's not karma, I don't know what is!

Don't get me wrong; we always have rabbits in the neighborhood, and some years, the populations are worse than others.

Maybe it was because I just penciled up an article on nuisance creatures, but to me, it definitely seemed like there was an influx of bunnies hopping around.

That said, it made me ponder the question, which is worse?

The cottontails or the Richardson's Ground Squirrels?

I suppose the answer to that question lies within where in the city or county you live.

Where we live, there aren't any Ground squirrels around our house; they are close, though!

Give it a few years, and I'm sure these little creepers will make it further up the hill.

Rabbits, on the other hand, as I mentioned earlier, are much more present.

Since we adopted our husky border collie mix, the bunnies don't enjoy hanging out in the yard like they used to. I think the Ground Squirrels are worse because of how destructive they are.

But the cotton tails take a close second!
