New Rates for Sanitation in Great Falls Coming Soon

The rate adjustment will begin on June 1, 2026, in Great Falls.  The new fees are part of Resolution 10573 (resolution details here) which the City Commission approved during their May 6, 2025, meeting (meeting minutes available here).

According to the social media post, those increases come in part due to "increased landfill costs and needed equipment upgrades" for the division.  However, there were some bright spots to the announcement.

New Rate Adjustment Includes Low Income Help for Those in Need

As part of the new rates, the City of Great Falls announced that the senior citizen rate would transition to a low-to-moderate income rate.  Citizens can also apply with Opportunities Inc. for assistance in helping to pay:

Citizens may receive a discounted rate through Opportunities, Inc.’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Citizens may contact Opportunities, Inc. at (406) 761-0310 to apply.

The City of Great Falls encouraged anyone with questions about the new rates to contact them through the Utility Billing Department, at (406) 727-7660 Ext. 2 or email utilities@greatfallsmt.gov.  To learn more about the energy assistance program, visit the Opportunities Inc. website here.
