
Yep, Now Know I’m Old – I’m Excited About Parts Today
As my trips around the big ball of fire in the sky continue to add up in birthday form, I am not blind to the getting old thing. What I didn't expect was to find the greatest of joys in the smallest of things while the mileage continues to tick upwards.
And how fitting on Cliche' Day (Nov. 3) that I would get to experience one of those play out in real time. Those crazy little sayings of "time flies the older you get" may be old themselves, but right now, "it is what it is" because "to be honest", "at the end of the day" I am totally stoked about a new part coming in the mail.

If you do any type of home repairs, you know what a nightmare they can turn into. But they can also be so very incredibly rewarding. Fixing this or that around the home just hits harder once it comes to fruition and actually works. And as I get older, the less I want to pay someone to do it. Or to buy a completely new one. Because prices on home appliances have become insane.

Regardless, I couldn't continue to use old towels to sop up the rinse water from my clothes washing machine. So, a couple of weeks ago I dove in to remedy the wetness upon my floor and the boredom I was having sitting in front of it for 58 minutes. And now my half bathroom/laundry area looks like this:
And, as you could probably guess, my wife was not overly impressed. But after assuring her that the good folks at YouTube haven't failed me (horribly) yet, I had it all under control. Because you know, cliche's like "it's a guy thing" help me explain my "easier to ask forgiveness than permission" disposition.
Do You Get Excited for Weird Things as an Adult Like I Do?
Yes, I am totally excited about getting out of work today and heading home to get my new part and start putting all of the pieces back together. Ultimately, this guy was the culprit, I hope:
As a kid, this wouldn't even have been mildly entertaining to me. But to my father? I remember vehicles parts coming and him being just like a kid on Christmas. New fuel pump for the feed truck? Best mood ever! Even more so once it was installed and the cows were happy.
I probably even snickered a little back then at him being that over the top about something so small or insignificant. But now? Yep, I finally get it Dad. Thanks for the lesson. What crazy things make your day as an adult that wouldn't have hit the radar when you were young?
