Temperatures continue to be hot across the state of Montana, with much of the state under some sort of drought conditions.  About one-third of the state is under an abnormal drought rating, with 20% considered under severe conditions.

And with such an open winter from 2025-2026, winter snowpack across Montana hasn't really been great.  The city of Bozeman is reminding residents (even those that just were married in Madison Square Garden recently) about the permanent water restrictions set back in 2022.

City of Bozeman Residents Reminded About Permanent Water Restrictions

City officials have asked residents and businesses alike to follow guidelines and the proper schedule for watering lawns, trees, shrubbery and more.  Even city parks will be limited to when and which days they will be allowed to use sprinklers.

Watering schedules will be based on the physical property address and apply to all residences and businesses using city water for irrigation.  Watering hours are also under limitations, with no watering allowed between 10am and 8pm, Monday through Sunday.

Citations, Warnings or Even Fines Possible if Restrictions Aren't Followed

The city also warned that residents could be fined or face citations if it is discovered they aren't following the permanent schedule.

Great Falls hasn't had restrictions in place for some time that I can remember, but with temperatures expected in the triple digits as we start to wrap up July, one has to wonder if there might be in the future.  Especially with the considerable lack of moisture in recent winters to keep mountain snowpack at average or above average levels.
