Montana Man Takes Home Huge Prize on Food Network Show

A Montana man is about to live out his dream of becoming a world class chef after being the last person standing (cooking?) on the Food Network's "100 Cooks" and claiming the top prize in the competition.

Bryce Stubbs will now be able to embark on his new journey thanks to the show's grand prize of $215,000.  The trip to get there has been a relatively short one considering Stubbs's age of just 24, but a little help and inspiration from above may have had a hand (whisk?) in it as well.

Montana Man Takes Home Huge Prize on Food Network Show

Stubbs grew up in Bozeman, Montana, cooking most of his life, especially at younger age with his father, who Bryce says was an amazing cook in his own right.  After his sudden passing at the age of 13, Stubbs continued his passion for cooking and said that he knows his father had a hand in it.

Bryce also credits his mother with his skills and creativeness, often incorporating the family's Mexican heritage with dishes featuring wild game or seafood.  But it isn't just the amazing food creations, Stubbs only has 6 months of being a professional chef.

Wild Game Wins Over Judges and Puts Stubbs and Montana in Spotlight

The show's judges were also treated to a little taste of the Montana outdoors as Bryce chose to use wild game, specifically elk steaks, in the final round of the competition.  As someone that grew up eating wild game, I know how hard it is to get right; I couldn't imagine trying to impress world-renowned chefs.

Stubbs was unfazed, and only received one critique, dealing with the temperature of the meat varying.  It didn't matter though, as the judges resoundingly chose his dish over the other challenger.  You can learn more about 100 Chefs and Bryce's journey through it here at the Food Network.
