Shootings are Becoming More and More Commonplace in Montana Lately

As another weekend goes by, it appears that there is an increasingly disturbing trend happening across the state of Montana to accompany them.

The Helena, Montana police department is releasing details on a shooting in the capitol city of the state, and those details include a good Samaritan ending up in the hospital after witnessing someone in distress.

Helena Police Release Details on Weekend Shooting in Capitol City

According to a police report released through social media, the Helena Police Department has arrested Bryan Moyer, age 50 from Montana City, Montana for felony charges of Attempted Deliberate Homicide and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

The incident began when a patrolling officer heard a gunshot in the downtown area of Helena.  Upon arrival, the officer found one man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.  He was transported to the hospital for care.  Officers then initiated a search for Hoyer, who was found hiding nearby and was arrested; officers conducted a "secondary search of the immediate area yielded a holster and a pistol hidden within feet of where the suspect was located."

Samaritan Trying to Help, Instead Ends Up Being Shot by Suspect

Investigators say that suspect Bryan Moyer "was intoxicated and fell on the sidewalk outside the 400 block of Last Chance Gulch".  When a bystander attempted to help him, "the suspect drew a firearm and discharged it, striking the victim."

The report stated that the investigation is ongoing at this time.  Hoyer was booked and is being held at the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center in Helena, Montana.
