As the new year is underway, perhaps one of the resolutions you presented to yourself was to be more involved in our community of Great Falls.  Depending on how you want to help others, there are several great opportunities that are coming in 2024.

Helping give back to the youth in our city may be the catalyst to getting you on your resolution path and being able to stay on it through the year.

Becoming A Member of the Great Falls School Board

For 2024 the Great Falls Public Schools will be looking for a member to join the GFPS Board of Trustees.  According to their Facebook page, they are looking for:

One seat that represents both the elementary and secondary districts on the board for three years, until May 2027. Anyone interested in this position must live within the Great Falls Public School District boundary. The position is currently held by Trustee Marlee Sunchild.

The position is unpaid and if elected, the person would be required to attend 3 to 4 monthly meetings.  Those meetings consist of topics such as:

  • curriculum
  • policy
  • budget
  • administrative issues
  • other topics

If You're Interested in Applying for the Seat, Here's How

In order to have your name on the ballot for the election coming on May 7, 2024, each respective candidate must first fill out a specific form:

The Declaration of Intent and Oath of Candidacy for Trustee Candidate Form may be obtained from Brian Patrick, Director of Business Operations, at the District Office Building 1100 4th St. South or at the Great Falls County Elections Office located at 325 2nd Ave. North # 100.

Once the form is acquired and filled out properly:

The form must be filed with the Director of Business Operations or Great Falls County Elections Office at 325 2nd Ave. North # 100, prior to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024. Candidate should be registered to vote at the time the Oath is filed.
