8 Details You Need To Know Before Visiting Glacier This Fall
It's that time of the year when leaves start to change, the mornings are cool and crisp, and locals are planning their late-season trips to Glacier National Park.
Save yourself a headache and get all the information you need for your Fall Glacier trip below.
1. Vehicle Reservations: End September 10th
If you're planning to visit Glacier National Park in September, please note that vehicle reservations for the year 2023 will come to a close on September 10th.
2. Bridge Repairs in the North Fork Area
Starting September 5th, essential repairs will be underway for four bridges in the North Fork area of the park.
3. Paving on Going-to-the-Sun Road
If traveling along Lake McDonald, prepare for upcoming paving work on Going-to-the-Sun Road. Anticipate 30-minute delays in both directions and plan your travel accordingly.
4. Winter Recreation on Going-to-the-Sun Road
Despite being closed for construction last winter, Going-to-the-Sun Road is expected to remain open to Lake McDonald Lodge for winter recreation. However, be mindful of safety closures imposed by the GNP Road crew.
5. Logan Pass Opening Hours
Going-to-the-Sun Road will remain open to Logan Pass until Sunday, October 15th, at midnight, barring any earlier closures due to adverse winter weather conditions.
6. Reduced Park Shuttle Services
They will operate with reduced services if you rely on park shuttles for transportation.
7. Campground Closures and Primitive Camping
Some campgrounds will close soon as the season transitions, and others may switch to primitive camping options.
8. Changes in Park Services
Lodging, food services, retail shops, horseback rides, boat tours, and bus tours will gradually wind down as the season changes.
